Bugaboo Bee bits and bobs

Have finally settled on the bee (thanks to lots of good advice on here and in RL). We now have to work out what we actually need other than the base, canopy and cocoon...

Is that it for the basics?

Any top tips on accessories and whether we need the seat liner etc?

I'm sure this must have been done before, but I can't find any threads - sorry...

Thank you!!

Ooh, sorry another question- has anyone used the wheeled transport bag?

Spot the woman glued to the John Lewis website..!

We had the cocoon for when DD was tiny, and then a sheepskin, which is nicer (and cheaper!) than the bugaboo liner, in my opinion. Now she's grown out of her cocoon we just have a buggysnuggle, which is lovely, and the sheepskin fits inside it, so she is super snug.

We also had a sun sail: [http://lina-m.eu/e/sonnenstand.php?PHPSESSID=bb6037fafc1953b81734bb3873f5efdf] instead of a parasol - worked much better.

I love my bee!

I have a bee, I personally prefer the custom made footmuffs and liners, I love Vicky Neal's, snunkie and poshbugs, chuckle munkle's are fab if you can get them 2nd hand as Sarah is on maternity leave atm
I have a bumper bar in mine which dd4 like to hang on to, they also look lovely with a bumperloop cover on :)
HTH a bit :).

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 29/10/2010 14:15

Oh yes, custom made footmuffs are gorgeous - I wanted a snunkie but was quoted 6 weeks to make it, and I had left it too late, it was already cold.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 29/10/2010 14:16

We had the cocoon and then the footmuff. Both well used, although there are probably cheaper options than the footmuff.

We bought the parasol but it was barely used (mind you, I live in Scotland so not much call for it Wink) . We also had car seat adaptors, but I must have used them for about half a dozen times max. By the time I faffed around putting the car seat on, it was easier just to transport DS into the pram.

I didn't bother with the wheeled transport bag. We got a mclaren to use when travelling anywhere overnight by car or holidays etc, which takes up a lot less room. I tend to use the mclaren if I'm going anywhere by bus because there's always a chance round here that you'll need to fold your pram.

The bee is great - never had any problems with it and DS is now nearly 2 1/2.

I've got a bumper bar on mine, DD and i both love it...Finishes the Bee Plus off nicely.

MonkeysPunk · 31/10/2010 09:48

Where do you get a bumper bar for the bee plus from please?

suzie38 · 31/10/2010 14:34

Someones selling on eBay at the moment...Has 2 left...They actually come from a Chicco Multiway cgi.ebay.co.uk/CHICCO-FRONTBUGEL-FUR-BUGGY-MULTIWAY-SICHERHEITSBUGEL-/390220442704?pt=DE_Baby_Unterwegs_Kinderwagenzubeh%C3%B6r&hash=item5adaf36c50&afsrc=1 This one's quite a bit cheaper than the UK eBay site.

MonkeysPunk · 31/10/2010 17:36

Thanks, have ordered from there - just waiting for invoice with UK postage so I can pay now!

MonkeysPunk · 01/11/2010 15:05

just wanted to say total cost of the bar with postage to the UK was a little over £25 incase anyone else had been thinking of ordering. Hope it fits nicely! Also does the bee fold with the bar in place?

suzie38 · 01/11/2010 17:28

Yes it does...The bar only really works forward facing and you can carry the Bee with it...Though i first saw the bars on US eBay where it stated the bar worked rear facing when fully reclined but i don't use it rear facing...Doubt it'll fold with bar fitted rear facing.

largeginandbloodpunch · 01/11/2010 19:38

Sorry to gatecrash but i have a question too if i may?

I would like a Bee but have now seen they do a Bee plus. Is there a big difference? Is it worth the extra money?

My dd is 22mths but not very big.

TIA

I debated between the bee and bee plus as my child was a similar age when I bought mine - I really did prefer the bee plus for the growing room - the bee 09 version would have only just accomodated my child at 2y - but not for much longer.
The seat is nicer IMO on the bee+ as it's wider - and the back extends much taller - and there is more headroom built in to the hood also. Also - the harness extends with the seat height so no rethreading as the child grows.
The other feature that is much improved on the bee plus is the ease with which you can turn the seat direction. I do use mine rear facing a lot - but I love if I'm out for a whole day I can have ds facing out if we're at the zoo for instance - and then turn the seat around after lunch for nap time - when ds wants eye contact and peace and quiet.

suzie38 - is the bar easy to remove? Only I do use my seat rear facing a LOT - should have asked earlier about it folding with the bar on. Still we may use forward facing more as he grows older (ds is 2.5y now). I do think the bar will finish the pram nicely - and I have ordered a couple of the bumpaloop covers (one for our city mini and one for the bee) - they do look fab - thanks for the suggestion of those whoever it was! Grin
the spookaloop bar covers are fab too - wonder if they'll do xmas ones?

suzie38 · 02/11/2010 16:09

Bar is extremely easy to put on and take off...Just rest on the Bee's side bits and push the two clips down and hey presto bumper bar ready to go!!!

largeginandbloodpunch · 02/11/2010 19:07

Oh thank you so much for the reply.

Think it will be the Bee plus then. Have my Sola on ebay and few other bits so when they have sold i am getting one!

I second the bumpaloop's, i had one on the Sola. Very nice and excellent bumper bar protector.

Hello Ladies,
Has anyone actually tested whether the Chicco bumper bar works on the Bee Plus in rear facing position? Suzie38, you say it only 'really' works in forward position? Does that mean you have tried it in reverse too? Even if it means I have to remove if when I collapse the buggy, that would be OK? Would be great if someone who has it can let me know!
Thanks,
Mel

suzie38 · 04/11/2010 13:47

I'm only repeating what i read on the USA eBay site where i first came across the bumper bar...I've never used my Bee Plus rear facing as DD doesn't like it that way...I have turned seat around a couple of times playing with it but didn't try the bar as i turned it straight back around...If i remember when DD wakes i'll try it out but if i do it now i may disturb her.

MonkeysPunk · 04/11/2010 19:51

I'm awaiting my bar in the post (from Germany via ebay!), I have my spookaloop bumper bar cover at the ready to fit (it's lovely and spangly!).
the bumpaloop bar covers are fantastic - wish I'd known about them earlier. DS really loves them - despite being 2.5 almost! He chatters away about the "rainbow ribbon" and "fishies ribbon" etc. - then he leans forwards and tickle his nose with the ribbons and looks all dreamy eyed while sucking his dummy (when tired)!
I love the way the brighten the buggy up too. Grin

MonkeysPunk · 10/11/2010 22:06

hi. I got my bar in the post today. I find i have to squeeze the sides of the pushchair frame together about an inch in order to fit the bar. Not sure this is going to be good for the pushchair. Is this because i have the bee plus rather than the standard bee or is the fit like this on the standard bee too?

jennifersofia · 10/11/2010 22:27

The spaceship looking all over sun shade is not too useful.

Beignets · 13/04/2012 16:45

I would LOVE a bumper bar for my Bee, but I'm in the US & can't find one anywhere! I did find one for $19 but shipping was going to be ~$135!!! Any thoughts or advice?
Thanks! I love my Bee!
