mamas and papas herbie,have a make a mistake buying this??...

Hi, me and my partner are currently expecting number 2,and have recently purchased a mamas and papas herbie pushchair. We bought it very early, ( last time the pushchair wasnt purchased until a couple of weeks before due date..) but made a spur of the moment decision as it seemed so good for the money,and similar in shape/style to my previous icandy pushchair,im just slightly concerned now as have seen some not so good reviews... Can anyone help and give their opinion on this pushchair?? as im now wondering whether to sell and buy something else. Thankyou!

The real problem with mamas and papas pushchairs is the poor customer service - if anything goes wrong, they tend to deny everything and say it was misuse. Thats my experience anyhow (and I've read a few other the same on here).
There is a known fault with the frames on the herbie where the wheels shear off at the frame (most prams have a known fault somewhere!) but other than that its a lovely pram. Comfy for baby, lush fabrics, rear facing, nice to push, large basket thats easy to get into, carrycot is a fabric rather than hard sided so good for storage.
Only other thing is the fabrics fade badly, especially the black colour. Is it also quite large folded, but the wheels come off, and also, its pretty heavy, but again, most of the bigger prams are.

If I'm brutally honest, if you have bought it new, I would take it back to the shop, get a refund and then buy a second hand one- you can pick them up on ebay for a pittance, and thats with brand new fabrics, so you could save yourself a couple of hundred quid, all for the sake of a couple of light scuffs on the frame and someone having walked it down the street a couple of times.

Although we did only pay £150 anyway,so probably wouldnt save a huge amount buying second hand, that however was what i was going to do had i no found something at a reasonable price.. Yes thats exactly the reason i liked it,does look lovely,and very comfy,pushchair seat it a good size,and basket etc.. Just as u said a bit concerned as it seems everyone thats had a problem with one has got no help at all from m and p. All do seem to have faults though definately agree that,so who knows if i would be better with something else.. Both the front wheels broke off on my i candy,and my friends buggaboo broke twice too! a teutonia? i have the spirit s3 and it's great! am getting the double delivered soon! it is rf and you can add a soft or hard carrycot. has a 3 year warranty and they are really helpful if anything goes wrong. i seen one reduced here and thought it was a good buy for anyone looking a single,

I have a herbie on hot and bothered (red) and although it looks gorgeous I have noticed that the seat seems to wobble a bit and doesn't look as though it will grow with my baby, he's not even 5 months yet and I have replaced it with the silver cross linear freeway. Also with the herbie the frame is prone to scratches on the wheels and front of the frame due to how it folds, and the frame at the front doesn't seem as secure as it should be.

thankyou! Yes those are alot of the faults i keep hearing of,and what was bothering me.. Oh well bit late now really,took a chance getting it on a whim,but suppose can always sell it if need be,we were lucky we got it so cheap.. Thanks again! X

tbh if you got it for that price,if you dont like it once u start using it you can sell it on and hardly loose anything,i nearly bought one,but vhanged my mind at the last minute,they lookl lovely though x

i agree £150 is a great price for bn rf pram. Stick with it. i quite fancied one of these myself.

yes thats what i thought, it was 150, but just without the carrycot (only the pushchair seat) but thought that was still really reasonable, we payed over 500,600 for our icandy. So if worst comes to worse like you say can always sell it and prob not lose anything. And yes do agree, it does look lovely..that was what sold me!
