Buggyboard and Techno XT?

Am dithering about whether to get a buggy board for use with my Techno XT. DS has just turned 3, DD is 3mo - we have big kerbs on pavements where we live, our flat is up a flight of stairs and we go on the bus from time to time. Would I be mad to get a buggy board given the above? At present I either use sling and pram, or swap to pram and walking for DS - when he gets tired he's taken to kneeling on front foot rest, which works OK except when I'm hoping DD will go to sleep (hard to do with a brother excitedly telling you about what we're going past...).

So, what do you think? Go for it? or stick with what we're doing?

I wouldn't recommend the buggy board for anything other than short distances.

I made do with a buggy board (though the age gap was smaller between my kids) and I HATED it with a passion. So awkward to push that I ended up kind of walking beside it (maybe I'm too short?)

Not comfy at all and it would be a PITA getting it on a busy bus.

I really wish I'd bought a second hand double buggy.

Thanks for that - was wondering whether it would be more of a faff to get a bus if there were a buggy board attached, unless it could be folded up easily. However I think I've read about specific issues re buggyboard and techno xt - something to do with pram folding mechanism interfering with buggy board folding mechanism?

hi,i bought a new mac xt a few weeks ago,and used the lascal board on it,it foldeg better than tha old style xt,not sure why though.my son hated it,and still wanted to sit down,i do think some kids love them,and others hate them.it was a pain walking behind as well!!

also,mines a mini board as well,which is now on the for sale forum!!

Not sure whether my XT is old or new style - got in 2007. Has lever to collapse it on right side above wheels, is this same as yours?
I was trying to work out pros and cons of mini vs maxi boards, was mainly thinking mini would be lighter/easier to use if we're on buses and getting pram upstairs but still not sure if that's the case... what did you think?

its proberly older style xt,there is a cord that you lift up the board with,so may help with on and off the bus,and lifting up stairs.the fitting brackets are difrant on the mini board alot less bulker.i used to have the have a older mac and the maxi board and didnt find a prob with the folding(mind you i am heavy handed!)hope this all helps.

We may have the same XT as you, NumptyMum, as we bought it for ds1 in 2007. We've been using it with a maxi board since the arrival of ds2 6 months ago. We also live in an upstairs flat, and often go on buses and trains too. I can't comment on whether the mini or maxi is better as I've only tried the maxi, but I can say that it works very well for us.

The board comes with a strap to hitch it up when not in use, and that way you can get up steps or on and off buses pretty much as normal.

We didn't attach it exactly as per the photos on the manufacturers website, as it got in the way of the folding mechanism that way. We didn't use the extender things but put the fixing brackets directly above the little lever on the right that you press to collapse the buggy, if that makes sense, and we can fold the buggy normally.

I definitely think it's worth road-testing one if you can. I find it comfortable to push, but not everyone does. It's definitely far far quicker than trying to manage buggy plus dawdling toddler, and it helps that ds1 LOVES going on it (but I have one friend whose dd will have none of it, so you may want to include your ds in your road test!)

Chillipickle - thanks for much for that info, I'm hoping to road test one when I can get to the local pram centre but at least now I have an idea of how it could attach to pram and still work [simle]. At present DS loves kneeling on front strap facing DD but that only works just now as she's small, and it isn't great if she's really tired and needing to drop off to sleep...
