Using Cameleon carrycot off chassis

Thanks to those who advised me on buying a second hand cam. I have now collected it.

I wanted to be able to use the carrycot as an occasional travel cot when visiting grandparents for the weekend. However it does not sit flat on the floor when I take it off the chassis, as it rocks on the "arms" that attach it to the chassis. If you rotate the arms round to move them out the way, the only thing keeping the carrycot from collapsing flat under its own weightare the two ruler like bits of plastic which go into pockets at each end of the carrycot. It just doesnt look safe to me

This seems like a really poor design - there is a pic on the website showing the carrycot placed on a flat surface but I cant see how it is safe to do this unless you put books under it at each end to stop it rocking back and forth.
Any sugestions?

I used ours as a travel carrycot for about the first 4 months when we went camping and can't remember having a problem. i just remembered moving the rod thing to make it sit flat. It's been over a year since so can't remember if we did anything to make it safer - DH put ours together and is at work so can't ask. Will do tomorrow

however I still love my cam and my big boy 17month old still uses it every day!
