Choosing a car for a Bugaboo Frog... BMW X3, Freelander, Audi A3... any thoughts?

Hi,

We have to sell our beloved old car as it is only 2 door and is pretty hard to get into as it is, so the idea of putting a baby and car seat in is a nightmare.

So... we have been given a friends Bugaboo Frog which is great and we are thinking of what we car we should get (would be second hand) that the Frog would fit into without taking the wheels off etc.... and as I have some other health issues (which make a higher car a plus) I am wondering whether there are any cars which take the Frog without even folding it up.

I read somewhere on the web that the Freelander boot is high enough that you can just lift the Frog/Cam in without collapsing it... but I wonder if anyone does this and knows if it is true?

Any other car suggestions would be gratefully received!

i would have thought generally it would be people carriers and not 4x4 types that it would fit in unfolded.
one of the ladies on another board has a cameloen in the boot of a ford galaxy, with the hnalde on the lowest setting.
i can;t imagine the freelander being high enough tbh. i have a discovery4 and it might just fit in there.
pleanty of family size cars will fit the frog in folded witout taking the wheels off, i beleive you can even fit it in little peugeot's etc.

I can get my friend's frog and my maclaren in the boot of my VW Golf without removing any wheels.

Here's an idea--spend less money on the car and get a buggy that's easy to fold up instead.

Agree with lets. Seems daft to base your whole car buying decision on the basis of the pushchair you have.

I have a cam and I could fit it in my VW Golf (pretty much same car as A3) without having to take the wheels off, room for shopping too.

I needed a bigger car so then went for a BMW X3 and if I put the handle down flat against the floor of the boot yes I could put it in without folding it (only do this if hammering down with rain)

Bugs do fold down pretty small it's the two piece fold that puts me off so I have a bee+ that lives in the car now alongside my everyday cam.

Thanks Carrielou and HotchpotchHoney for your suggestions - I appreciate that.

Good to hear the X3 might work (especially for bad health days when I might struggle to collapse something).

I have actually found the Bugaboo was the easiest buggy for me to push Letsblowthis and Effjay for the same health reasons so it does actually make sense for me to be thinking along these lines.

This is a mn gold thread lol, choosing a car around ones farkaboo!!

But on a serious note, I can confirm that it fits fully assembled in the back of a land cruiser, but lifting it in can be tricky. Check the height you are going to have to get it to before wheeling it forward iyswim. Easy to take apart and fling in once you've got used to it though.

I have an X3 and my double mountain buggy fits in wheels and all so bugaboo would be no hassle.
