Anybody sold a buggy on ebay? Any tips?

After days of advertising everywhere I can think of, I am going to put the buggies on ebay.

Has anybody go any tips? Never done anything big on ebay before! I just want them gone asap and I need the money. Going on holiday on the 17th and hoping all will be sold and posted by then!

I have a travel system (buggy and carseat), how do I post these together? Do you have to send as 2 seperate parcels? How do you make sure the car seat is safe?!

I would go for collection only as I posted a pushchair and then the buyer said it was damaged and wanted a refund. It was a PITA and I ended up out of pocket with a broken pushchair (which the buyer eventually admitted damaging). So I would never send a pushchair again as even though Ebay said I did everything right at the end of the day if I didn't refund the buyer they would.

If you do collection only then you know people are happy when they walk away with the item and you can ask for cash on collection.

Yes collection only is MUCH easier for you. Say people are welcome to view before buying. List as no returns. Describe and photograph any faults ie scratches or tears in fabric accurately so people are fully aware.

You can post whole travel system as one 'item', that was how I sold mine.

Some people might prefer not to use a secondhand car seat so worth mentioning which one is compatible and how much a new one would cost.

Lots of photos of each bit/mode. Copy and paste blurb off the site you originally got it from!

Start listing for the minimum you would be happy to sell it for - I know lots of people start low to attract more interest but I have fallen foul of this in the past and ended up having to package and post an item for which I only got 99p - seriously not worth the bother!

I woulsn't post a travel system, it would be too costly.

Try to get your listings to end on a Sunday afternoon, lots of people viewing Ebay then.

Give any faults/cosmetic damage that the prams have, buyers could be picky about you not telling them.

Packing smaller prams is easy enough. Wrap in some plastic/black bags then cover in cardboard. I've sent loads of prams this way.

Are you all saying collection only for just the travel system or all the buggies?

I have 2 tandems I want to list as well.

I know collection would be much more simple but I was worried I wouldn't really get much for them.

For example, I have been watching out and about nipper 360 doubles on there which is what I hope to buy with the funds from this sale. The ones that have local pick up only seem to go for £80ish where as ones that would post, are going for £150 or so, plus postage.

I am off to have a bath first and then I was hoping to list them tonight.

I have posted a travel system using parcel force, i sent it in 2 parcels (car seat seperate), i think it cost around £20 and got there fine (no damage).

Make sure you take lots of photo's (from all angles. I agree that sunday is a good night to end a listing.

you will not get as much for collection only no. if you can send then do so. it is easy and cheap enough and the buyer pays anyway.

lots of photo's list all faults, however small, always cover your back! i've sold lots of buggies on ebay and most have gone smoothly i must say!

If you can possibly post then def. do it.
I send travel systems quite often, I buy a large roll of bubble wrap from local garden centre (about 20m for £15 from B&Q) and then wrap it in loads of that, followed by black bin bag, then a layer of clingfilm, and finally (if you are using clingfilm rather than shrink wrap) several strategic bits of brown parcel tape.
I normally get 4 travel systems from a £15 roll, and I wrap the pushchairs with the same, putting extra on any sticking out bits.

i asked my local mthercare of toys r us for any boxes they're going to throw away and i managed to pack a pram and car seat in 1 box and it only cost £10 with 'send it now' they were great

i think to get more interest u have to have postage but u must state in the listing that its no returns and u have described item as honestly as possible and any marks tears etc just add pictures (lots)

I can't be doing with eBay. Have you tried nct nearly new sales? You can search for local sales on the nct website.

I did look up the nearly new sales but theya re so expensive and have so many rules. Had to pay extra for buggies I think, have a £10 entry fee, they take a good % of your profits, max of about 60 items or something and only 30 can be clothes. Put me right off!

Really? I've found it pretty straightforward and I think ebay's complicated

I have to pay a £20 deposit (that I get back unless I don't turn up) and can sell as much as I like. No premiums for buggies or anything like that. They take 30% I think but tbh my items make more than eBay and I choose the price in the first place. I do bag similar items into packs because the profit chances of selling one babygrow or whatever is tiny.

The list of instructions was daunting the first time so I rang the organiser who talked me through it and it wasn't as complicated as I'd thought.

I'm in London but I think they're standardising the sales so might be worth another look?

Do a 10 day listing, starting on a Thursday night so it finishes a week on Sunday (Sundays and the most popular day to look at ebay, so this way you get 2 Sundays!)

My advice would be to have a good look at Ebay, and see what other sellers are doing. Also look at completed listings to get an idea of how much you are likely to get for your item.

I have been looking loads at ebay as I am trying to get a pushchair, and I have noticed that they seem to go for a lot of money, so you may well get a good price for your item, especially if it is a good item.

And also be upfront and list any bits of damage or stains - I think people appreciate the honesty.

I sold mine, collection only with buy it now on eBay - I had said I'd take best offers - had a bit of haggling on a Saturday evening, buyer collected on the Sunday afternoon - I'd only listed it on the Friday!

It definitely worked for me, but I was selling a quinny which I think helped as people tend to look for brands and as I wanted it out the house, I was happy to take a lower price.

Collection only is definitely a winner though - although after advice on here, I'd only accept cash to avoid any potential paypal disputes after the event - but it allows the buyer to see what they're getting and means you don't have the problem of getting it all packaged up and sent.

All I would say is watch the charges rom ebay and paypal. They can be quite high when selling an item of value, sometimes it's better just to sell locally in the newsagents window or something similar:)
