Which lightweight pushchair do you use?

I need a lightweight pushchair for dd (4 months)

Basically it would be for when i was using pulic transport, have got away with just using a sling up till now but she is getting heavy. Needs to be an umbrella fold (or something else easy and small)

Was going to get the Mclaren triumph, but have seen some bad reviews.

What do you use, and do you recommend it?

Price range idealy under £100 but could go over.

I have had a variety of umbrella fold pushchairs and have foudn them all to be pretty much the same. I have a Maclaren triumph which many people don't like as the seat doesn't sit completely upright, but my ds doesn't mind. I wouldn't use one for a 4 month old though as at that age I would still want it to recline flat.

TBH I would get a pretty cheap, lay flat umbrella fold. There are loads available under £50. If you don't mind pink Argos are selling a Mamas and Papas Beat for £50.

I have a REALLY lightweight one, it is a Silver Cross Fizz, cost about £80 and looks fab. The straps are a little bit fiddly but other than that it is great and so so so so so light. Very easy fold.

I have a mothercare whizzi, I don't know how it is compared to other buggies as its the only one i've had, but I like it. It is adjustable so he can lie flat or sit up, or anything in between and is nice, small, light and easy to steer. It is umbrella fold.

the only downsides with it are that you cannot fold it down with one hand and its hard to go from lying to sitting with him in it, although you can go from sitting to lying really easily, which is great when he falls asleep.

It cost the same as an O'Baby buggy, which I had trouble steering round the shop.

It cost about 90 (I have no pound sign on this keyboard), and I really like it :-)

If you are using it as a spare buggy, then any cheap umbrella fold will be fine. That argos M&P one looks good. I have a similar one - however I would really recommemd you do get a maclaren if you are going to be using it every day. My cheap buggy is great, but just doesn't seem to be cut out for prolonged everyday use.

Also, what sling have you got? You may be able to switch to a different kind and still be able to carry her, if you would like to. I'm still slinging DS at 22 months so it's not impossible! Grin

I have always used a Micralite fastfold for DD - as small as an unbrella fold, and does umbrella fold, but has good sized back wheels for going down steps.

Shitty shopping basket htough.

Thanks everyone, I'm looking at all the suggestions now.

Bertie i have a few slings, the ones i use most is the connecta. It's mainly just on hot days when i need to go shopping that i struggle. Also when it rains would be nice to just put her under a raincover and not worry about umbrellas Smile

Agree on getting a lay almost flat umbrella fold like a Maclaren Quest.
Maclaren are the best. But for shorter term occasional use a similar version as mentioned above would do. They won't last as long.
I have heard the Obaby more expensive ones are good.
I have a Micralite superlite and would Not recomend it for a 4 month old as the recline is not enough and though very easy to fold are not as compact and light as a Maclaren to go on a bus.

Oh and would not recommend the Triumph at all as your baby will slump in the seat and they are difficult to push when the DD gets older.

I love my Graco Citisport but you can only ger 2nd hand on eBay right now...Did have a link to Mothercare where there was their version for sale but i can't find it anymore so hoping it turns up again in the future as a new model...It's so light and nippy and folds really easily.

maclaren quest great little stroller not too heavy, nice seat, leg rest. use code VFL on mothercare for 20pc off anything over £75!

don't get triumph.

My McLaren Volo has lasted for six years, it weighs nothing at all, cost me 50 quid (they're now 80 I think), folds up one fingered and, magically, has a strap that you can use to sling it over your shoulder when folded (or at least it used to - current edition may not).

We still use it to take the cats to the vet or to do the school run when one of the kids is too sick to walk.

Oh, oops, just saw that your DD is only 4 months - in that case you'll need something a bit sturdier than a Volo that lies down flat.

have a Volo it has taken loads of abuse, still useful only draw back early on was that seat is fixed but great on trains buses festivals etc
