Divatheshopaholic · 02/09/2010 17:16

Basl, sounds like plan to me. Im definately up to meet you Wink

I have blue stripe buggysnuggles if anyone interested:)

FlyMeToDunoon · 02/09/2010 17:47

Oh dear I am thinking maybe I should have kept the footmuff now. I didn't even try DD in it in case I sold it.
Never mind, little nephew will have the benefit.
Broadband BT engineer spent ages around this afternoon and all seemed ok again but have just written long email and connection lost in the middle of it all.
Gah.
Hoping it was a blip.
Will keep posts short.

FlyMeToDunoon · 02/09/2010 17:49

DD1 had first day at secondary today. looked very grown up in uniform and has come home with masses to tell.
I tidied her room and it took me nearly all day!
Liner doesn't have velcro Nicola. But am off to check as it did slip and really annoyed me.

FlyMeToDunoon · 02/09/2010 17:49

Off to cook dinner.

5inthebed · 02/09/2010 17:57

Micralite is lovely Nicola. Was laughing at boys as they look like caterpillars in that footmuff Grin

I've been to a birthday party this afternoon with all three DSs. I usualy eave DS2 with MIL but we have had a slight falling out so didn't want to ask the miserable cow her.

It's lovely and warm today, boys played outside all day.

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 02/09/2010 18:37

funny you should say that 5in, as we were singing 'there's a tiny caterpillar on a leaf...munch, munch...theres a tiny caterpillar on a leaf munch, munch, theres a tiny caterpillar, a tiny caterpillar oh a tiny caterpillar on a leaf munch munch...and so on' lol!

he loves the footmuff and you know what problems i had with him last winter so im hoping it will still fit him tho doubtful.

xt will get stripped and washed tomorrow ready for sending on monday. hopefully already having a buyer for that. And with the proceeds im buying a new carpet for dining room! good girl eh?

nicolamumof3 · 02/09/2010 18:38

dunoon, if you do decide to sell liner can you send me text how much? but i think it may drive me nuts if it slips? i hate slippy liners. Shame footmuff doesn't zip off to liner really as its such a snug fit. Am not sure luka will fit in it easily with coat and boots in winter but i was surprised it was quite roomy and love the way it comes right up to his face.

BexieID · 02/09/2010 21:41

Wow, those new Micralite muffs are great, kinda like the Kaiser muffs.

Sorry I not been on much, Erin was not well at weekend. First we thought it was just teething but monday am she was really hot (even just in a nappy) so got an emergency drs appt (so glad it wasn't a bank hol up here) and it's just a viral infection. Cue me and DP now with colds, which was just peachy for me going back to work tuesday Hmm.

Toms stayed for lunch today and tuesday at nursery and when I picked him up today, he was still sat there eating, lol. I saw one of the teachers feeding him what looked like mash and cold ham Shock. I can't remember the last time I saw him eat meat, possibly when he took a bite of MILs hot dog earlier in the year! Was so pleased with him until we got home and was naughty.

nicola, glad everything went ok yesterday.

Diva, glad you had a good holiday.

5inthebed · 02/09/2010 21:58

LOL Nicola, you sound like me walking around singing to the boys.

Bexie, hope Erin is feeling better.

Dunoon how scary having a DD in seondary school! I dread the day!

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 02/09/2010 22:24

bexie im confused is tom at nursery for further year then? sorry you prob said before! when is he five?

yes all over now, feel almost back to normal. Bizarrely not tired either.

the micralite footmuff is ace, and fits really snugly i tried the kaiser on it itas well but just far too big the micralite one obviously fits perfect. So keeping that for now to see how we go with it. i love the fold too. So compact and free standing, next to the two blue mini micro's under the stairs! Fab.

BexieID · 02/09/2010 22:31

I used my Kaiser on FF and it was big, lol.

Tom is 5 in April, so he gets the full 2 years at nursery. Erin will just get year and half. They go straight into primary 1 up here. Will Tate be in reception? All too confusing really Confused, I know Tom would be starting school now if we were still in England.

5inthebed · 02/09/2010 22:41

I don't understand the whole Scottish school system Confused

Glad you're feeling the superlite love Nicola Grin

OP posts:
FlyMeToDunoon · 02/09/2010 22:43

I fell asleep on sofa after managing to sew just one more name label on. So it's not just the school girls who are tired after the first day back Grin
I haven't had time to think about the liner Nicola or look at it either.

nicolamumof3 · 02/09/2010 22:46

aww so they get their 'reception' at nursery then bex i guess? they don't do so much in reception its more a settling and socialising exercise isn't it?

don't worry dunoon, no rush Grin

right just watching that sleep programme on bbc1 and running me a hot bath. Can't believe im not dead on my feet. i've only had about 4hrs sleep.

horsemadgal · 02/09/2010 23:44

Scottish kids start nursery the term after they are 3.
The cut off for starting school is February, so any kids who are 4 by February start school the following August. So they can be between 4.5 and 5.5 when they start Primary 1 which is the equivalent to Reception.
My DS2 will only get just over a year at nursery as he's a February birthday, unless I hold him back a year (usually the Jan and Feb birthdays have this option).

nicolamumof3 · 03/09/2010 07:24

oh its quite diff then? they start here depending on the individual nurseries tbh. Both Tate and Luka started at just over 2yr, you pay until the term after their 3rd bday. So luka has had a year of nursery already (3 x morning sessions) he will now be going free so he can attend every session and now he's off to school next sept he moves to afternoon....where did my babies go? Sad Toms first day at secondary today Shock

5inthebed · 03/09/2010 08:55

I've always had to pay for nursery paces as DS1's birthday is in May and DS2 August. They've both missed on free places. DS3 is November so he will get a free place when he turns three.

I didn't want to get out of bed this morning. Slept lovely last night and got woken rather rudely by DS1+2 fighting Angry. Despite me telling DS1 he can come downstairs whn he wakes up he is yet to do it. Bit late now it's the end of the hoidays for him to start doing it. Boys! They're just like mini men.

OP posts:
horsemadgal · 03/09/2010 09:00

Well that is school nurseries.

You can send them to private nurseries before 3 and pay, or after 3 for free.
I have free child care and I'm tight so mine waited until he was 3. Wink

BexieID · 03/09/2010 10:49

Is it compulsory to pay beore they are 3 in England? I've no idea as all my pals down there i'm still i contact with had kids after me. We can pay before 3 and I know DP was hoping we could afford it for Erin but a) I don't think we can and b) it isn't entirely fair she should when Tom didn't. Having said that, she will start nursery 2 weeks after she turns 3 and will start school at 4.8 years (Tom started nursery when he was 3.4 years and starts school at 5.4 years). An earlier start at nursery for Tom may have helped his speech as well. If Erin shows signs of delayed speech I think i'll put her in nursery (even if I have to work extra to pay for it).

nicolamumof3 · 03/09/2010 11:14

ah bless you bex, well i for one know that it helped luka's speech, tho he was v.young. he was 2.2yr when he started last sept, i was worried how he would communicate with the staff and other children but it brought him on leaps and bounds within weeks his vocabularly was amazing! If you want them to go before they are three (its the term after their 3rd bday you get funding) then yes you pay for it. it is £10 a session roughly down here. So we were averaging about £180ish per term. He did three mornings a week. I don't think that was too expensive really? considering the fees i remember paying for Tom 10yrs ago at private nursery 3 full days a week then were about £600pm! all very much depends on your child your family set up, whether you are working etc and what works best for you and them at the time. I wouldn't worry about trying to do same for Erin as you did for Tom just do right when it comes.

FlyMeToDunoon · 03/09/2010 12:19

Micralite superlite liner has no velcro Nicola. Only form of attachment is at the bottom where two little velcro loops go through two slots.
If I get a Snunkie one I am goint to ask her to have vecro at the top to go around the back of the top of the seat and maybe a flap like the footmuff.
Another improvement would be to have the sides joined to the main part in some way as every time DD3 climbed into the pushchair she managed to fold at least one part inwards and then plonk herself onto it.
Actually might email Lucy now as have funds Grin
Then work out how I could make one myself Grin
Must take pattern before selling.

BexieID · 03/09/2010 13:49

Ah, so you don't have to send them before 3. Think the bump o my head I gave myself last night on the fridge has fried my brain, lol.

Toms stayed for lunch 3 times this week. He ate meat for the first time in ages yesterday Shock. Today it was fish, chips & peas. He left the fish, ate the chips and a teacher fed him the peas (which he'll happily eat straight from a pod, lol).

nicolamumof3 · 03/09/2010 16:05

thats lovely they get a cooked meal bexie, be nice in winter.

dunoon im thinking snunkie liner way to go as well.

5inthebed · 03/09/2010 20:22

Bexie, they don't have to go to school until they are 5 in England.

I am thinking of sending DS3 to playgroup for one morning a week in January. Still not sure whether or not I will, as the other two didn't go until they were nearly three.
