I have been given an old and falling apart one and have a few questions. Has anyone done one up and:

  1. what are the differences between the version1 and version2?
  2. Does the hood material come off and how?
  3. I have heard some people had problems with fraying and seams coming apart is this a manufacturing problem?
  4. One back wheel has no cap to the axle. Will I need to get a new axle or can this part come on it's own?

Version 2 has a grey catch on the side to lock the frame shut.
The hood fabric comes off but the little rod that gives the frame shape is sewn in.

Thank you.

Fraying and seams coming apart are common especially on the doubles seat. The replacement fabric is virtually the same price as awhole new seat.
My local shop stopped selling P&T fro this reason.

However, I love my P&T and think it's been brilliant and I also have a McLaren which has had almost no use.

Also, think you'll need to purchase a whole new axle.

Thanks.
I have ordered a new axle and a cap for the front wheel. The cap was free.
Am thinking of replacing the fabrics and am searching for second hand.
