NO idea! Please help...

...Hi, I'm expecting our first & have no idea at all when it comes to pushchairs/prams, etc. Just wondered if anyone could give me some advice?

Live in the countryside, so needs to fit in the boot of a car & be sturdy on uneven ground. Is there is difference between three & four wheels? Are travel systems a good investment? I'm 5.4" & would be the main 'pusher', DH is 6" - does that make a difference?

Have been looking at pictures, but none the wiser at all! Please Help! Thank you very much.

There are loads of threads on here that should give you some tips. Can't beat getting to a decent sized Mothercare, John Lewis or independent baby retailer to have a look.

Basically this is what I would suggest you consider

Adjustable handles for you and your DH.
Single bar is easier to push one handed if you want to grab a few bits in the supermarket, hold onto a dog etc.
3 wheels cope better with rough ground than 4.
Big front wheel is better if you're going to walk on anything other than fairly even unsurfaced paths - BUT those often don't allow the seat unit to face you and only face forward - facing you is supposed to be better for development but we only used it like this for about 5 months as DD was too nosey!.

I bought a travel system with hard bodied carry cot rather than the softer ones that sit on the seat of the pushchair. This meant that I didn't need to take the pushchair unit with me in the car - just the wheels and carry cot and as I had a winter baby I felt it gave her more weather protection. I personally wouldn't have used a lay flat pushchair from birth as I don't think they look particularly comfy or protective for a tiny newborn.
Get a decent rain cover and footmuff.

If the sales assistant struggles to remember how to collapse it or attach bits it tells you a lot about how easy it might be to use!
