help with slalom pro needed

I have the jane slalom pro travel system and have used it for 18 months but one thing is really becoming a problem - my ds slumps down in the seat because the crotch strap is very far down iyswim and he slides down until it is supporting him so he is always slouched down, never sat up. Anyone else had/fixed this problem?

Have you tried a thick padded liner, or two or three in layers, to 'fill up' the seat? The seats are very big to accommodate 3-4 yr olds, but it's a design fault that the harness doesn't have different slots to adjust to suit children of differing ages/ heights/ builds. It may get better as autumn and winter come and ds wears thicker clothing and footmuff.

yes the weird thing is he was fine last winter with the footmuff on (he's an enormous 18 month old now!) and it's only in summer that he's had the prob. I might have to put the liner of the footmuff back on.

Is it a common prob do you know?

I think it is with change of clothing thickness. I think slipping into a slouch might be more of a problem with a pushchair that doesn't have a bucket seat, as they tend to be angled backwards. I used to have to alter ds' straps significantly depending on clothing. (Admittedly 19 yrs ago, and not in a slalom!)

Does the slalom have D rings on the waist strap? If so, could you get a walking rein type harness and clip it to the D rings, using this as a restraint instead of the slalom harness? This was standard before pushchairs had their own harnesses, also more difficult for determined toddlers to escape from. This would mean you could use a foam garden chair cushion (seat and back style) without needing the harness holes. You might be able to get one quite cheaply now, as they will be sold off.
