Bee and Bee plus - what's the difference?

Having promised myself that I would NOT spend loads of money on a buggy/pram, I've fallen for the bugaboo bee

I'm not bothered about having a second hand buggy so I could easily get a 2009 model on ebay, but I just want to make sure that the new Bee+ isn't somehow much better... What's the difference? (apart from the price!)

I really want need a Bee Plus personally, the main difference is that the new Bee can fit taller children, and my DS is freakishly tall bless him. If your child is small, the old Bee may work well though as you can get them relatively cheap now the new one is on sale.

On bee plus, seat is wider, can adjust taller, hood different shape and has headroom inbuilt. Handle bar height adjustment has hidden fixed positions so won't slip. Seat reversing is simpler. Seat more ergonomic and can go more upright. Harness grows with seat now.

Thanks ladies - maybe I should think about the Bee plus after all... DH is 6ft 5, so there's a good chance that our (not quite born yet) DS will be on the tall side too - his cousin certainly is!

I had the same dilemma. Honestly i would just go for the bee plus, because it is a better model for all the above reasons. There were issues with the 1st bee, so they made the new improved bee.
The 1st bee is fine up to 2y approx whereas the bee plus could be used up to age 4\5y with hood up.
They're both very good but i figured long term it was false economy to by the older model as it would be outgrown (buying for a 2y old).

The original Bee is a great newborn and baby pram. I'm still using it at 11 months but also have a Maclaren which I'll probably switch to when DD outgrows the Bee. It kind of depends whether you want to have a big buggy for the whole 3-4 years or if you're going to switch to a lightweight umbrella-fold anyway after a couple of years.

Although one of the selling points of the Bee is that it's supposed to be a lightweight stroller with some of the good features of a heavier luxury stroller while remaining compact and suitable for using on public transport etc. So you buy it thinking you won't need to buy a "cheap umbrella fold" stroller after a couple of years.
A maclaren umbrella fold is near enough £100 anyway - so add that to the cost of the standard bee..... and you more or less pay the same as you would for a bee+ - only once you start using the mac - you have lost the nice features you paid for in the bee (like reverse facing!).

True, but the Maclaren is still 2kg lighter and folds up much smaller so I would still have got one even if I had been able to buy the Bee+. Mothercare cheap umbrella fold is £35 I think. I know some people like a 'proper' buggy the whole way through though.
