We are looking into getting a conservatory but don't really want to get one if its only useful for 6 months of the year. After looking on the internet I see that you can get conservatories with a solid roof. Its suppose be cooler in the summer and warmer in winter. I want to know if this is true.

Another reason for wanting to know is we are thinking of getting a puppy and this is where his bed will be but obviously can't if it still gets too hot.

Thanks

I had my conservatory roof replaced by Wetheralds last year. It wasn't cheap, but I'm really happy with it. Mine has Metrotiles because they match the house. It has made such a difference, now it feels like a normal part of the house.

Ladies my friend went to Abbey Windows and used a living roof system. Here is the link for the living roof system. It basically gave them a livable temperature www.ultraframe-conservatories.co.uk/solid-roofs/livinroof/

My friend had her conservatory insulated last summer, it has taken that horrible green house affect away completely! It also retains the heat so much in the winter, she has now turned it into a playroom for her children. This is the company she used they cover the whole of the country :) www.2hot-2cold.com

We've just had a tiled roof fitted on ours, it was extremely hot shortly after and the new room was cool and useable. Had a company All Seasons Roof do the work, not pushy, fitted within three weeks and the whole thing went good from start to finish. This is their website www.allseasonsroof.co.uk based in Bournemouth but fit nationally hope this helps someone

hi, we are local builders but i am not using this space to advertise i am a new user so sure this wouldnt be allowed. just wanted to answer some of your questions and worries. the new 'warmroof' (there are several manufacturers around)are a brilliant idea, we have been in business for 32years and seen many fads come and go in this business, this is a stayer!! easy to install, take one roof off put the other on, takes a few days with a few days to finish up, love the apex roof designs, good to have 1 or 2 vellux windows, with spot lights totally transforms the room, the insulation is amazing, immediately changes from glass conservatory to a beautiful warm, useable room, would definately recommend - and cost wise well for example 3mt x 2mt around £6000 - still a bit pricey but coming down! But it means you have an extension and another room you can use any time of year, day or night - my opinion definately a goer!!

Hi. My name is Steve and I have just set up a business replacing polycarbonate and glass roofs. My product is the Celsius solid roof which I personally designed in my last role as Product Director before I left to set up my new business. I can honestly say that replacing your old roof with a new solid roof will totally change the way you use your conservatory. Watch out for cheap rubbish, there are a number of poor alternatives out there. The Celsius Solid roof is made using Kingspan technology and is approved by your local authority building control (LABC). Please come back to me if you have any more questions.
Best wishes
Steve
