Currently researching products for our new kitchen and have narrowed down the worktop choices to Corian or Granite.

They appear to be v similar in price but I would love to hear to collective MN opinion of both and get all the pros and cons from those who live with them.

TIA

I've had granite for 12 years and even when I've left tomato sauce on it, it hasn't stained (or it has and I've bleached it off). Much abuse, still looks nice. But I think it looks a bit 2000's, and not very modern. I would like to replace it with quartz but DH thinks we'd need to do the cupboards too, as a nice sparkly quartz would show them up. I'm not into the idea of a whole kitchen remodel (3 x DCs, pets, full-time job with long hours/long commute). But I do think quartz and Corian look more up to date, sparkly, clean, wow factor etc.

Black star galaxy granite which has flecks of copper and silver in it. We have hardwood skirtings and doors and it all ties in beautifully. The granite is so easy to keep clean.
