I don't know where else to post this.

Humour me.

If you had to do this and weren't a churchgoer how would you go about it?

Are there alternatives?

My DP reckons we have a problem in this area....

Lulumama
I spent a whole evening with a bottle glass of red wine getting myself freaked out at all the ghost stories on here, there have been some crackers.

Contact your local church.

solidgoldstuffingballs · 29/12/2008 22:16

Most religious officials would be happy to wander round and deposit a prayer or two: the general feeling being that it won;t do any harm and that reassuring a nervous parishioner is the right thing to do.
If anyone in the household has a bit of religious faith then a holy object or two about the place might also provide reassurance.

I do not think there is any such thing as a ghost BTW but if someone thinks there is one in the house then giving them things to put on the wall/say/do that are essentially harmless, help the person feel better so the spooked feelings go away.

expatinscotland · 29/12/2008 22:18

you can also contact your local paranormal society and they will usually be in contact with people from various religions who can help.

if you feel ANY fear or apprehension you should never, ever try to take on anything on yourself.

I'd totally ask my local church/mosque/synagogue (pick one) really nicely.

dsrplus8 · 29/12/2008 22:33

get the catholics in. expert exorsists! / wondering why not to get spiritual church people in??? explain please???

expatinscotland · 29/12/2008 22:44

because an exorcism is a specific ritual to expel a demon.

ghosts or spiritual presences are only very rarely demonic.

most of the time a 'haunting' is a residual echo of what may have happened in the house or the site on which the house is situated and not really a full-on spirit at all.

a spiritualist can move on any presence that is there 9 times out of 10.

dsrplus8 · 29/12/2008 22:59

oh expat, thanx for explaining that

dsrplus8 · 29/12/2008 23:34

having thought about this, is thete not anyway you could get those two yum yums from supernatural around to sort out the ghosties? lol, then let us know how we all can get some ghosts too.

My friend underwent an 'exorcism' service several years ago, via the local church. It wasn't the local minister who performed the service but she says it was very effective!

I have been aware of a couple of incidents that have happened around me over the years. All have been associated with an individual, often one with some disturbance around them, and my friend fitted this bill!
