Do you think this kitchen will date rapidly?

We're having a new kitchen as part of our extension plans, and a chap from Howdens is coming next week to discuss plans etc with us. I suspect I need to have more of a clue about what we want.

We intend to live in our current house for the forseeable future so want a kitchen I will love forever but also want to be mindful of resale value. So, what to you think of:

come on, be honest

Do you think it will date quickly, and do you think it is a love it or hate it kitchen?

Thanks!

Our hi-gloss white kitchen has absolutely no scratches and does not mark. It is 2 years old.

Well, I'd say that opinion is split, so we might as well choose the one we like the most. Will report back on Tuesday when we have decided!

I agree it is top choice but because of that is quite common(sorry) and will look dated sooner rather than later.Just my opinion

lovelysongbird · 31/07/2008 16:25

agree with hana.

the black ones will as they are quite a trend, but the white ones won't.

we have just bought a new build flat and they all had white high gloss kitchens it wasn't in chelsea though

PrimulaVeris · 31/07/2008 16:39

It will look dated - but I have to say that one of first things people do when they move is replace the kitchen anyway ... so if I were you I'd have what YOU want.

I have a cream hi gloss kitchen with bamboo worktops. It is lovely and easy to clean, in fact don't clean it that much
But got it from MFI - would never use them again. Dreadful customer service

llareggub · 31/07/2008 16:57

I can't go into MFI. It is on my blacklist after terrible customer service previously.

I think the first kitchen is gorgeous, not that keen on the wooden one: it looks a bit bland to me. Agree with Primula, buy the one you want and stuff (at the moment highly theoretical) resale appeal. I've always had gloss kitchens and find them quite eay to keep reasonably clean.
