Just asking for opinions on this house.
This 3 Bedroom Property For Sale Southover, Westhoughton, Bolton has come on the market and my sister is going to arrange a viewing. Her children are boy 8 and girl 10 so in a few years will be teenagers.

It has 3 bedrooms however 2 are so small and her hubby is very much against even looking at it.

Sis says it would be her forever home and in later life they will be pleased to have a bungalow. For context, she is 38 and hubby 41.

I think it looks nice but cant imagine 2 teenagers living in such a small space.
Is she looking through rose tinted glasses or should she listen to hubby. They have been arguing about it all day!

A fantastic opportunity to acquire a versatile 3-bedroom semi-detached bungalow situated in a quiet and sought-after residential area of Westhoughton. Offering single-level living with a flexible layout, this property is ideal for those looking to down...

It looks tiny, and a leasehold? I couldn’t imagine what would be 4 adults being comfortable there. I can’t see the sq footage, what is it?

Mulledjuice · 01/10/2026 18:49

why is it leasehold?

Holsareovertooquickly22929eee · 01/10/2026 18:50

I’ve just found it on the floor plan, it’s 852sq ft which I think is small for 4 adults x

Hmm. I would buy a bungalow however not that one. It's a nice area and good price but It is tiny, no room for a dining table and that third bedroom is a cupboard and the others not much bigger.
At that age, I'd go for a bigger house for now and look to be bungalowing when at least one child has left home

That is literally the size of the downstairs of my house. Absolutely no way could 4 adults live in my downstairs comfortably

It’s only worth buying if the loft can be extended to put in a bedroom with the 3 rd bedroom being where the stairs would go. Personally I’d look for a different house.

No it’s too small!
I don’t like the galley kitchen. Imagine strapping teens trying to squeeze past you.
Nah, I’m sure there’s better. Her husband is right.

Not uncommon for houses in NW. Probably be a very long lease though 999 initially maybe)

Schools?

Notgonnatalkabouttheweather · 01/10/2026 18:59

Surely this is hugely outing

have you told Your sister you started this thread?

SomersetBrie · 01/10/2026 18:59

I think it's too small but why not go and see it?
That might settle the argument.

The problem with 3 bed bungalows is that the bedroom is instead of another room, so that's literally all there is.
Buy it in 15 years.

parietal · 01/10/2026 18:59

It is tiny, no space to eat in the kitchen, no links between house and garden, very little storage I’d keep looking
