Do you paint your rooms in different colours?

Our downstairs is all white, which I love. I like a bit of warmth in bedrooms though. We have just painted our room palest pink and it is nice, but I can't decide if I like it enough for the upstairs hall. Is it better to be uniform? I think that might look more sophisticated. The kids will one day choose their own colours in their bedrooms, but right now most upstairs rooms are still a pale yellowish colour from when we moved it. It is ok but needs refreshing.

Borrowed Light is a fab colour, a very flexible blue.

My rule is: our semi open plan areas that merge: all the same colour. No difficult painting on adjoining walls. For us that’s hall, study area, lounge and kitchen. Second lounge (Eleohants breath) dining room ,Setting plaster) cloakroom (DeNimes) and laundry (Dimity) all have their own themes and personalities and are behind doors . Stairs and landing are the same as semi open plan areas downstairs so it’s seamless. The bedrooms are all different, as are the bathrooms. So we’ve used Borrowed Light, Elephants Breath (twice!), Cornforth White and Peignoir. Main bathroom is Mizzle and en suites match the room they are next to or are fully tiled.

Our whole ground floor is a neutral off white - it’s what’s on and around the walls that makes it super sophisticated.

Different rooms get different amounts of light so colours can appear quite varied. We have a pale grey in the lounge which gets loads of sun and a warmer cream colour in the north east facing kitchen
