Have you project managed a bathroom refit and will you critique my contractor lists?

I'm very nervous about getting something wrong here because I've never done it before but am planning to save costs by managing individual tradesmen in my new flat. I'm ripping out a bathroom and having a new one fitted.

It's the only bathroom so I'd like to keep a working loo throughout. I have drawn this list up with some help from AI and want to sense check it with a human who has done it before! I did not, for instance, realise that electricians and plumbers would need to be done in two stages.

Any feedback and general advice gratefully received!

I bought the majority of my fixtures and fittings from City Plumbing. They recommended a gem of an installer who did everything on your list apart from the electrics - he found his own qualified electrician- and we did the painting. Total £10k for everything.

Oh that's great Rockfrock - can I ask where roughly you are based? Or if you'd rather not say, are you anywhere close to SE London?

I used a multi skilled tradesman - he was amazing and no excuses or moans about other tradesman as he did all the work himself.

He was genuinely brilliant. Did a great job and the bathrooms still look great 7 years later.

Speak to some people and find out if they can recommend a plumber that they've used for a new bathroom. Find three ideally, get quotes, pick the one that seems most reasonable and or you can stand to have in your house for a week or more.

Ask them any questions you've got, not AI. It will all be ok.

I am in Dorset. But it's worth a trip to your local City Plumbing to have a chat with their Bathroom Manager. Our guy was amazing as we were brand new to the area. We bought ProWarm underfloor heating, our bath was Carronite, our wc and toilet were Ideal Standard and our shower tray and 10mm thick mammoth glass screen were Mira. Price included separately tiles from Topps and our Grohe rainbow shower from Costco.

To be clear this is where I started out - turns out I only know one person who's used anyone recently and his quote was almost £11k labour-only hence trying another approach

Are you buying your sanitaryware from a local stockist? They’ll have details of local bathroom fitters who would normally do all of those things, or work with a plumber a great deal and would arrange things between the two of them.

I just use a local builder for all my renovations. He’s fitted kitchens, bathrooms, changed doors and windows etc, laid flooring, tiles, does electrical work (he gets his electrician friend to sign it off.) the only thing he doesn’t touch is gas. Have a look on your local Facebook page for recommendations. AI is bollocks

I was going to say we had our ensuite bathroom done last year. We got a plumber and he did the whole thing from start to finish. We bought the bathroom suite/tiles etc. He did everything else, including levelling the floor, tiling, lighting, painting etc.
I think it was around 6k for labour
