Thinking of remodelling our kitchen.
Currently, we have a 95x120cm breakfast ‘bar’/worktop which is attached to the wall on the short side. It can seat four, although we do have a separate dining room. Underneath the worktop is an under counter fridge. It’s the only fridge in the kitchen. There is a freezer in the garage.
There is very little storage space in the kitchen.
I’m considering replacing the worktop with one around 70x90cm, and using it just as a worktop. The space gained means we could fit a freestanding fridge freezer. I would get rid of the undercounter fridge and instead use the carcass as a cupboard with shelves.
This would mean no one would be able to sit at the worktop any more. But we would have a fridge freezer, more storage space, and we can eat in the dining room.
We currently eat at the breakfast bar about once a month. I won’t lie, the top is usually mostly cluttered with stuff eg slow cooker storage. That could go in the newly formed cupboard!
Is it worth the trade off?
