Is this level of pressure from the yopa sales agent acceptable?

Were buying a house and its been 8 weeks since we put the offer in. We were due to exchange last Friday and complete 3rd aug, then 6th aug and on Thursday at 5pm it got pushed to 13th Aug by the upward chain. We have no issue with this. The yopa agent has been so pushy with me though and im not sure if this is normal / acceptable. She's been whatsapping me at 930pm at night, sending voice notes, then on Friday when our solicitors said exchange would have to be Monday as they needed all the chain of solicitors to agree the new date she started sending me WhatsApp saying
We'd let the chain down by not exchanging
Noone could book their removals
There was a woman on end of life and it was unfair to her

I feel pretty annoyed that she tried these tactics and asked her to speak to our solicitors for future questions (I.e. dont message me)

Am I being unreasonable? Is this acceptable? From my perspective completion for pushed a week so why did it matter of exchange delayed by a day, and also our solicitors were waiting for the date info, they cant take instruction from her!

Completely unacceptable. I would complain to Yopa directly.

Wow, yeah I agree with @Firetreev . Who is the Yopa woman representing?, if it's your buyers then can you tell her to go through your estate agent and block her number?

We had similar when buying a house on the market with YOPA last year, despite it being that vendor causing all the issues and delays! The YOPA agent really was awful and I would never recommend them to anyone looking to sell

Thanks all, we are the bottom of the chain and not selling a property. I feel frustrated because its leaving a sour note, and I dont think there's any value in arguing the points with her I ve asked her to go directly to our solicitors (who are brilliant). @aardvarkappeal thanks for sharing your experience, what happened with key exchange on the day of completion?

Keys were just left in the shed which YOPA decided to let us know at 4.57pm! Despite later finding out funds had cleared at 1.30pm

Peachysweet6 · 03/08/2026 10:02

Wow!!! That's crazy. I didnt know they were allowed to do that!

Yeah I didn’t feel particularly comfortable with the arrangement!

It's wrong and also pointless. You've asked your solicitors to exchange as soon as possible, you can't do anything else.

Complain, absolutely. Totally unprofessional.
