How long did it take you to get organised after house move?

We've been in over a week now and there's still loads of stuff to sort/find space for.

We've already got rid of lots. We had a shed before and a loft room with lots of cupboards. This loft is full of deep insulation that isn't suitable for boarding. We'd only end up keeping decorating stuff and camping gear in there to be honest. We have a storage room and getting a shed so that'll help.

I just feel a bit overwhelmed atm.

This is perfectly normal I know of people who still had unopened boxes after 6 months

We are moving from EU to UK next week. Idea is friend would come with a van for the boxes this weekend. We are not taking any furniture and UK house is sort of ready to go. When I looked to see about doing my customs declaration to claim tax relief on our personal goods, I suddenly discovered I needed to do this at least 1 month in advance! So now everything needs to go into storage until this is sorted! Dh did a mini run with the microwave, kettle, toaster, nespresso machine and some clothes, though limited as you can only take about £400 worth of stuff without declaring it. And customs did check the car at Dover! So we will come back on Eurostar next week with suitcases and a rough plan. I might have a nervous breakdown - start my new job on August 3rd 😱

Well I’m nearly 3 months in and loads isn’t unpacked, but I’m waiting on a builder to take a wall down, and a new kitchen.
once the wall is down in 3.5 weeks, I can start unpacking downstairs properly

Moved 3 years ago. Might be organised one day but I'm not hopeful.

Do you think we need stuff that's still in boxes years later?

A lot of it, probably not, but in a recent venture into the loft, I found lots of lovely clothes and jewellery I'd forgotten about
a lot of crap too though

@ShouldIStaySelfIsolated I've been ruthless with clothes before and after moving.
We've been to the tip today and got rid of lots and I've given away stuff on Facebook freebies. Also got rid of the oven(scrap) and put a new one in. That was easy. The oven is amazing. I made a chicken dinner tonight. We had it early as I was keen to try the oven.

We're preparing the ground for a big shed tomorrow. Then we'll put the base down and build the shed.
