How should I treat and protect my new garden fence?

I have recently bought my first house and have a garden for the first time. There is a fence in my garden and I don’t know what I need to do to look after it. What do I need to protect it, as in varnish or wood stain or paint? Please see photos attached. Does it need cleaned?

I think you should paint it we used Cuprinol ducks back it comes in many different colours some People prefer a brown colour/stain and some People prefer a coloured one mines forest green.

Once painted it will give it a new lease of life and will look nice and fresh.

I would prefer not to give it a completely new colour. Is there anything clear I could use? Is it varnish I'm looking for?

I agree with Autumnlife.
It looks really parched and a coat of protective wood stain would give it a whole new lease of life and a better finish. If you want to stick with a light natural finish though, you could use a decking protector. Just Google " decking protector and the main brand names will come up.

It needs to be painted in a wood stain plenty of natural wood colours are available in Cuprinol or Ronseal brands along with many other colours that some people prefer to use. The wood looks very parched and desperately needs treatment before it starts to rot away through lack of treatment.
