Lack of proof of address

We are currently trying to complete the forms for the solicitors for our house purchase but we have come across a rather large issue.

Obviously ID is needed for check and we do both hold passports, the issue is they require ideally 2 forms of proof of address generally being any kind of bills.

The issue is, for the past 12 years I have lived in a HMO, which is bills inclusive so I have zero bills or correspondence in my name, my partner has been living with his parents the past 13 years and basically also does not have my bill or proof in his name!

Are there any other acceptable alternatives? Or can anyone suggest what would also be acceptable that we obtain as proof?

No driving licence as mine was revoked on health ground and he is legally blind 🫠

However we could both obtain bank statements (curse the bloody encouraging of going paperless!! 😩) and both have p60s

Thanks

Bank statements.
P60
Inland revenue correspondence
mobile phone contract
work correspondence/ employment contract

You must have a phone contract statement or a bank statement surely. Or a letter from HMRC would do.

If you online bank and have a printer you can print off a statement. Or download one for emailing. Usually sufficient.

In addition to the other comments does your partner who is blind receive DLA or UC? Credit card statement?

Mum5net · 28/05/2026 07:33

mynameiscalypso · 28/05/2026 07:35

CornishPorsche · 28/05/2026 07:38

Mobile phone bills

Subscriptions - gym membership, beauty boxes, toilet roll, Amazon annual membership?

Bank statement or mobile phone bill should be acceptable.

Orangeandpinkcloud · 28/05/2026 07:53

Tenancy agreement? Your bank will stamp as proof a bank statement that they print if a print out is not good enough. Mobile phone is sometimes not good enough. I know we can't accept them.

Must still be on the electoral roll?
