What came with your house that you now would not be without?

Is there anything you inherited when you bought your house that you would never have bought yourself but now cant imagine not having?
Hope that makes sense. I am just being nosy.
When we bought our house it had proper 70s style venetian blinds in most windows. They looked so dated that I just assumed I would bin them and get curtains. And I did get curtains in most rooms but somehow still kept the blinds. They are versatile. Cut out a little bit of light, give some privacy but still let light in, pull down or put up quickly....
And also a pond with fish. Never had any interest before but we renovated it (was very old) and currently spend all our time on tadpole and baby fish lookout. I would never put one in a garden but I cant imagine not having it now.

A cherry tree with a swing. So relaxing in the summer, dappled shade.
A kitchen hanging rack, saves so much space in cupboards.
A separate bath and shower.
A garage and drive.
The most immaculate loft I've ever seen. I'm determined not to fill it up.

A pullout breakfast bar. It looks like a regular drawer and I didn't see it till we moved in and were unpacking. When you pull it it extends out to about four foot long and has a leg tucked under for stability.

Going to add this feature when we redo the kitchen - excellent idea!!

My previous house was newly built, with all mod cons, dishwasher, utility and en-suite bathroom. I miss the en-suite the most. My present house came with a boot room, greenhouse and lots of sheds and 2 acre garden. So I now have a potting shed, always wanted one, my partner has a workshop, which he’s always needed.

An extension above the garage that you can only access via a bedroom. Not the biggest one. Found it an odd use of space and planned to try and change it but actually its worked out brilliantly. That is our master bedroom now, have space for a super king bed and dont need any storage other than a bedside table. Then off that room we have a dressing room with a big table with a lit mirror, a walk in wardrobe, a bathroom with walk in shower and double vanity unit and my office. All tucked out the way, I love it

A toilet downstairs and a utility room.

A butler's kitchen. VERY convenient. And a boot room with raised dog wash.

A porch and a utility. We had a pond too, but a mink attack put paid to that sadly.

Downstairs toilet and lean to

It’s called a Foxydry!

I now want one of these! Looks great!

For me, it's the walk-in pantry. Unlike the kitchen, it has not yet been invaded by mice! Also, I love the fact that it's safe enough for the posties to leave parcels in the porch (TBF, it's safe enough to leave your doors unlocked!), and the fruit trees on the lane. We eat a lot of fresh fruit and fruit pies at that time of year!

Ohhh that’s good to read @EnglishGirlApproximately our new home has a pergola and I wasn’t sure it’d be any good for anything other than growing plants up.

I came to say a rinser tap in the kitchen. I know I could have put one in my previous house but I didn’t appreciate how handy it is till I had one. It can switch between a normal flow and a hardcore showery/rinser setting that blasts the crap off pans really well.

This house also has a workshop which I had great plans for. It is lovely to have a space I can put stuff I’m working on, like stripping some furniture, only I don’t have much time for that at the moment so it’s full of half finished projects already.
