Repairing a small tear on a carpet? What product?

Has anyone done this successfully? A 2 inch tear has appeared right at the edge of the carpet, up to the carpet doorway strip and at a right angle to the strip. I’ve been googling and it seems like taking it up at the edge, putting carpet adhesive or glue on the underneath and putting it back down might work. Can anyone recommend any specific glue?

I would pull it up, gaffer tape the rip closed on the back and then glue the carpet down with carpet glue. www.diy.com/departments/painting-decorating/decorating-tools-supplies/glues-adhesives/DIY1625690.cat?Navigation+type=Carpet

Thank you. I might see if I can find a YouTube video for technique advice!
