Realistic to find sunny 3-bed detached in Gloucestershire area under £800k?

Please help me with some advice on areas.
Im planning to move from Scotland to Gloucester/Worcs/Wiltshire area. I know the area to some extent, some areas more than others.

I’m looking for a three bed detached house with a nice private garden which gets lots of sun and light. I don’t want a generic grey interior or bland house with no character, but will have to make compromises. I don’t want to be overlooked, be too close to other houses or near a main road. Budget maximum £800,000 but that will stretch us to the limit.
Village/ small town setting preferred with good transport links if possible.
I would really like to be part of a community with things going on, so not a commuter town or somewhere full of second homes.

I have been trawling RM for literally years and rarely find anything within budget that isn’t needing loads of work or near a main road of a camp site or suchlike. Am I asking for the moon? I’m beginning to think we just can’t afford it.

Yes, I’ve been checking out Malvern too. I love walking there but not sure I’d want to live there.

Why not?

Why not?

I think it’s just that Malvern feels quite cut off somehow. It’s not really but it feels that way. I’m not mad about the town centre either. I love the hills and the pubs and the theatre is great.

Worcester is an hour and a half from Bath.

On that budget I cannot believe you've been looking for "literally years" over such a wide area and not found something.

This often happens on here. OP asks for a property of which there are hundreds. People post up links and ideas. OP finds fault with everything.

No, I am not finding fault with everything. Several of the houses posted I have seen and favourited before. I loved one of them that I hadn’t seen before. I haven’t been in a position to move up till now so have been watching the market. I have seen houses I’ve liked that have sold in that time. However I haven’t seen many houses lately and there don’t seem to be many at the moment. Our house is just about to go on the market.
Yes Worcester is an hour and a half from Bath. I’m looking over three counties. I’ve lived in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire in the past.

Have a look at the outskirts of Chelthnam or Stroud both near Gloucester.

We have one for sale in worcs but not in a village really more a hamlet, 2 pubs though and a bus stop. Taken it off sale right now as it’s having a bit of work done (conservatory roof leaked) but it’s far enough under your budget to be able to afford to personalise. 1acre gardens .

Short sighted to reject Malvern, fantastic place to live:

I’m not totally opposed actually. We know someone we have no intention of seeing or speaking to again who lives nearby . That’s part of the reason. Also OH is irrationally not keen. I would definitely consider it otherwise.
