Do you think Richard Osman wanted the Daily Mail to report extensively on his new £9M house including all the sales photos?

He doesn't strike me as the sort of man who would welcome that publicity.

If it wasn't his choice, does it mean someone he knows or, worse, someone involved professionally in the sales transaction, has leaked the story to the paper?

The photos will have been freely available online when the house was up for sale, and I don't suppose it's hard to find out who's buying.

Probably not, but he probably didn't want you to come and post about it here so that loads of people who weren't aware can now go and have a nosy (if so inclined).

Readership of the DM far exceeds Mumsnet - and anyway the cat's out of the bag now. I'm interested in the bigger picture. Having worked in Estate Agency where there were very famous clients on both sides, discretion was a very big thing at work. False names and all sorts.

Either RM didn't want the publicity and someone somewhere has leaked it

or

He DID want the publicity. But why?

Both questions are quite interesting, just because he presents as a celeb who wouldn't be interested in gossipy celeb culture.

I don’t think any celebrity really wants their privacy invaded like this. It genuinely increases their vulnerability to crime. Celebrities who post images of their homes have been victims of burglary, mugging and home invasion often enough that nobody with their head screwed on would deliberately make themselves or their family vulnerable in this way.

I think you’re being a bit melodramatic about leaks and discretion. It’s perfectly possible a neighbour saw RO coming in or out, and the DM just plucked the photos off the estate agency website. It looks lightly ‘staged’ for sale.

Why don't you submit your question to The Rest is Entertainment podcast and see if he answers it?
