Companies that provide insurance that covers moving by friends not professionals

Hi everyone

Can anyone suggest an insurance company that provides insurance cover for moving done by friends not professionals?

My current insurer, Hastings, doesn’t do this.

I’ve googled and MoneySavingExpert and the like say things like ‘most insurers provide some level of cover when using professional removers’ - but I can’t find actual company suggestions

There’s no way I can use professionals.

I’m happy to get a one/ two / few day policy just for the move.

Anyone? Thanks in advance!

I'd imagine the risks of this would be to high to justify offering insurance. Professional movers are exactly that professionals with liability insurances. How would you prove you hadn't engineered a breakage just to claim on the policy? What risk is there to your friends - they won't take you to court for non payment or worry about you giving them a bad review as house movers. Insurance comes with responsibilities and in this case there are none

Hi @Gingernessy interesting thought.

The risk I’d like to mitigate is the worst case scenario possibility of all my stuff getting destroyed in a crash / accident on a long distance move. I was thinking along the lines of the accidental damage policies that are available - I’d imagine the same sort of arguments about engineering breakages could be made about those.
