He put on the enclosure profile on before tiling (I asked him to do this so the shower enclosure would fit as the tray was going to be too small and it had already been fitted (he supplied tray and knew the enclosure measurements so I feel like this was his fault ) but he didn’t read the instructions so when it came to fitting the enclosure, the profile was in the wrong place and instead of fitting the glass together using a part, he’s had to silicone the join because if he’d used the correct part the door would be outside the enclosure.
if he had read the instructions instead of guessing where the profile should be it would have fit perfectly. The door still works and it seems sturdy and it looks great, but there’s a leak around the door. ( bathroom only finished 2 days ago)
he’s going to come and fix the leak by adding more sealant. It was a £1000 frameless shower enclosure and including all parts and labour our total cost was about £12200. Am I right in withholding £2200 until the shower is sealed (he’s not going to be able to refit according to manufacturers instructions) and ask for extended warrantee in case we have problems down the line. We wanted this bathroom to last for 20 + years and put a lot of thought into it so I’m really gutted.
He’s making me feel really bad for holding him ‘financial hostage’ and I feel incredibly anxious as I’m a people pleaser.
