Can someone please explain the logic of the council house / social housing eligibility on the bid system?

We are a two (2) person household. Me and DD aged 8. We’ve need a 2 bed place - house, flat, bungalow, whatever.

We’ve come across hard times and I’ve got registered with the social housing people.

In this online bidding system I am eligible to bid for

  • 4 bed houses
  • 3 bed houses
  • An over 55s bungalow
  • A 1 bed flat adapted for disabled people

But I am not eligible to bid for (the system doesn’t let me)

  • 2 bed houses
  • 2 bed flat

I’ve checked that all the information in the online form is correct. I’ve rang housing and went through it with them and they confirmed that everything is entered correctly. They then told me the system will automatically determine what I am eligible to bid for.

This just seems crazy to me and I don’t understand.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m bidding on anything that comes up and happy to put up with whatever we get given, but why am I allowed properties which we will over or under occupy, but not properties that are the right size? I’m just going to get lumped with paying extra (that I can’t afford) because the bidding system won’t let me have something the right size.

You need to go back to them as that's definitely a glitch in the system

I will do that because it just seems crazy to me.
