House in N London - where to buy?

Hi Mumsnetters,

We have a budget of up to £850,000 to spend on a three bedroom house and would like to stay in North London. We have pre school aged DC, so schools are important. Other things we would like the house to have include: off street parking, semi detached (although this seems hard to find), three bedrooms without a loft extension, not too far from a train station for commuting (not too fussed on line). If the house is at the top of our budget then we won’t be able to do any work, so it needs to be liveable.

Do you have any suggestions on areas? We’ve been looking in Palmers Green, although a lot of areas seem to be in a primary school desert. We also like Winchmore Hill.

Hazelwood School in Palmers Green is excellent. Great Headteacher. You'd get a lovely house in the catchment with that budget. Area is on the up and has a lovely park and overground station with trains into Moorgate / Highbury
