Farrow and ball dead flat vs little green intelligent matt?

We are in the midst of a renovation. We are looking for a good hall/playroom/kitchen paint. As much as I would love F&B estate emulsions chalky finish that's just not going to work with muddy sports bags constantly being dragged along the walls and craft paint constantly being splattered in my kitchen.

Farrow and ball swear dead flat is actually scrubable (and more matt than little greens intelligent Matt paint). Is this true? Any experience of F&B dead flat vs little green intelligent matt in terms of durability and mattness? I don't want sheen and have ruled out modern emulsion.

We’ve recently decorated and have Little Green Intelligent Matt throughout except our bedroom and bathroom. We’ve already had a toddler tantrum which resulted in a jacket potato, cheese and beans being tipped off the highchair and splattered on the wall. It wipes off perfectly, not a mark on it.

My Stepdad has had a decorating business for 25 years and swears blind that F&B is the worst paint, he hates working with it.

Intelligent matt is the best paint I've ever used, can be scrubbed with a scourer sponge, indestructible, and so so easy to apply.

Farrow and ball colours are the best. F and b for bedrooms and light use rooms. LG for anywhere else, that may need cleaning.

I have used a variety of dead flat, estate emulsion, and little green throughout the house. Dead flat and little green are the winners, little green probably slightly better. Avoid estate emulsion at all costs!

Love the pigmentation in Intelligent Matt. The Dead Flat finish is fabulous though albeit I feel it generally needs one more coat than the Little Greene.

Have you found a difference it how matt they are?

Try colourtrend ceramic matt, its fantastic, and very scrubbable

I find the coverage of Little Greene amazing compared to Farrow and Ball. Wouldn't go back to F and B.

I haven’t used LG but have to say that we’ve been delighted with dead flat, especially compared to other F&B finishes. It went on beautifully and the depth of colour is really good. We did three coats rather than two because we had a massive pot and plenty left, so that helped as the third coat definitely added dimension to it.

If I had to choose, I’d say F&B is the more matt. But I’m happy with the finish on both, the LG needed less coats too if that’s a consideration. I love F&B colours but next time I would go little green throughout if I could.

My son drew all over the wall with biro on Dimmity dead flat. I didn’t see it for weeks. Scrubbed off with a sponge and pink stuff spray. It really is incredible paint.

Just doing a study atm. It’s all going to be dead flat All white.

F&B is awful paint. I find Valspar V&Co dead flat matt has a lovely matt finish but is brilliant to apply and scrubbable.

I have the little greene intelligent matt in French Navy - it has a definite sheen. When i redecorate I won’t it Little Greene again. The rest of my house is farrow and ball - the stuff wears so well. I don’t get the farrow and ball hate on mumsnet - I do all my own decorating myself and I think it’s excellent paint.
