Anyone who knows about carpet fitting?

I have had new carpet in lounge and hall . Same fitters but several weeks apart.
Lounge done first when old carpet still in hall. Hall carpet fitted yesterday but the door bar they fitted between lounge and hall on first visit has been taken up and replaced by a narrower one.
It has left a mark where the previous one was.
I preferred the first one which was wider and had screws.
They didn't say anything about the change and didn't charge for additional door bars.
But I don't understand why it was done.
I imagine there's a reason.

Anyone who knows about carpet fitting?

They looks awful, ring up and discuss or with them.

I preferred the first bar because I could take it up to adjust the internet cable that runs to another room.
If I needed to .

The line will stop showing after a bit but if you preferred the first bar ask them nicely to come and put it back.

Was is Tapi?

allamberedover · 24/05/2025 09:07

Thanks @JollyGreenSleeves ,I did think it would improve over time .
I just wondered what the thinking was .
No it wasn't Tapi ,it was an independent chain of 3 shops in south London .

Looks wonky and poorly tightened.

Photographing it highlights everything
it doesn't look so bad in real life
But I do feel pissed off with them

I paid £45 for the old carpet ( 13 stairs and 2 corridors) and I would dispose.
They said they could put it downstairs ( one flight) on the forecourt for me, which they did
They used one long bag that the new carpet came in and left the rest loose.
I had 2 rolls of garden rubbish bags on the kitchen table next to where they left their tools . They asked if they could use one .
There's masses of underlay and carpet loose outside and I'm kicking myself that I didn't anticipate all the rain we had last night .
They've also left the offcuts from the new carpet for me to dispose of .

I know they were probably on the clock and working at speed . I'm mid 70s , fortunately can ask son to help, but I just wish they'd spoken to me to explain about the change in door bar and given me a heads up that the old carpet wasn't bagged up and might need to be covered .
