Old water feature - what to do?

Absolute novice at anything DIY so any advice will be much appreciated!

We have an old water feature in our garden that we are looking to get rid of however it’s properly wired up to the electrics. Does anyone know what we can do with the electric pump box? Could we just bury it? Or do we ideally need an electrician to come and cut it out?

Attached photo for reference.

If it’s hardwired into the mains you can’t just bury it and wait for future owners to electrocute themselves whilst digging in the garden!
You’d also risk the plastic around the pump degrading and turning your lawn live in the future I imagine.

Go for your ideal option and employ an electrician.

Do you know where it is tied into the fuse board has it got its own circit switch?
Are there there other electrics? outside junction boxes outside lights /plugs?

You could dig it down into the soil and bury the cable using sand and an electrical warning tape and an armoured cable junction box. However the problem is the full cable itself would be live with no above ground indications that the cable runs into the middle of a lawn /flower bed. So there would be a risk to someone digging anywhere along the cable.

Is there writing on the plastic to say the cable itself armoured cable?

Oh wow okay so we definitely need an electrician, we didn’t install it so have no idea where it runs and we’ve not been able to figure out which switch it connects to!

thank you everyone for your advice ☺️
