How do I stop the birds?!

Hello,

We've not long had our loft converted and it appears the birds love having a party on the flat dormer roof at 5am. I presume it's birds, could be squirrels I guess. Anyway, in the absence of scaffold and access, how do I get rid of them? Is there a contraption I can hang out the window?

Thanks!

Tin foil or CDs?

Bird spikes?

I live in a bungalow and it's become noticeable over the last month. I think it's a Spring thing - birds fighting for territory because they're nesting - as much as the idea of early morning parties entertains me.

I get a lot in my garden because there are a lot of mature shrubs and trees, I'm on a river, and I feed them a LOT. Possibly they may pep down a bit if I take away their regular 'fly through' food source, but I don't want to, because they entertain me too much.

Anyway, it could just be a Spring/territorial/nesting thing. I definitely didn't have it happen between October and March (unsure about rest of year, moved in October).

you can get a plastic owl that is meant to scare the birds into avoiding the area

similarly, a kite like this would work

Thanks for all the replies. I can't get up on the roof so the thing mentioned in this feed probably won't work? I guess most deterrents need to be on the roof to put them off? It's a flat roof and it's above my bed. They make such a racket!

Could you not ask on your local nextdoor.com or ask around for a handyperson to get up a ladder/cherry picker and attach bird spikes to the roof?

Sounds like rats.
