Getting buildings insurance with TBA for date

Is this possible? We don't have any idea on completion date at the moment and are not near exchange. Solicitor has sent us a questionnaire to complete, which includes confirmation of buildings insurance, policy number and amount it is for. Can you get a draft policy to provide this information or do I just need to tell solicitor that we can't complete this yet.

Just tell the solicitor you can’t confirm this yet.

I used to work in conveyancing
They were always happy with a quote that you've got for buildings insurance. Obviously you can't take it out yet without a date but you can get a potential quote

you can’t get insurance until exchange normally as you have to put the correct completion date on there, I would send the draft policy and confirm you will send the full policy once exchanged

Ah ok, I get it now, we can get a quote and draft policy and send that. Ok, will do, thanks!

Solicitor won't need to see it until point of exchange. I got a quote with exchange date and sent them the details. They need to check it to ensure it meets the lender's requirements.
