I can't figure out how to make this room look/feel better.

What would you do to it? Move furniture etc?

Chat has done dark green…can’t get it to go any lighter 😐

Looks amazing!

Please hang them much lower down! There’s nothing wrong with having more than 1 picture per wall when they’re not large enough on their own though. The sofas facing each other is far better. Full length curtains would look good, or Roman blinds as others have suggested

Agree. Lower: you are supposed to be able to look straight into them. And I prefer more on a wall except and unless it’s a big statement piece.,

It's all a bit... brown.
Brown sofas, coffee table, floor, blinds, and a rug that's also quite dark. I'd first swap the rug out for either a pale shade, or something much brighter. If finances allow, I'd replace the sofas with fabric ones in a fun or lighter shade. I just think leather ages and looks crap much faster than fabric does.

It has the potential to be a lovely space @Barrenfieldoffucks, but currently it's all very brown.

I much prefer the dark green chat gpt version as it makes the room far cosier and welcoming. Imho, you need patterned curtains in toning (or contrasting, which would be my preference, but I love fairly bold tones - see below) colours - something to add a layer of interest. Also, a patterned rug - this should sit under the front legs of the sofas, so needs to be a decent size - which again will bring in another layer of texture/colour/pattern. Then add lots of cushions etc to bring the scheme together.

I agree with @Jeezitneverends and @Calliopespa about the art being too high - a pet hate of mine - and that it should be at a level allowing you to look straight at it. I used to worry ours was too low, but it looks much better not having to strain to view it!

We're currently painting our living room in Edward Bulmer Nicaragua (a deep, dusky pink) and have two sofas - one cream linen, plus an antique one in a similar pink, both smothered in colourful cushions- plus a large, striped kilim rug. The rug has - amongst other colours - an ochre yellow, a colour which didn't feature anywhere else in the space. So, to tie everything together, we're adding ochre curtains with a pattern that picks up a lot of our other colours. It doesn't sound like it will work, but I'm confident it will 😉 Sometimes you just have to step out of your comfort zone and put loads of things you love together, so by that token, I'd definitely keep your lovely inherited art - just mix a few unexpected pieces with it!

I'd love a cream linen sofa...pre messy children I had a glorious very similar sounding one.

Zero point right now 😂

I keep pressing for fabric, but getting veto'd cause decent leather is much easier to clean.

We are going to get rid of one of them, the darker one on the right hand side as the kids complain it isn't comfy. Not sure what will replace it yet.

Have seen this big rug which I quite like
