House chain - any positive stories?

Just wondering how long your house chains took? We are in a long one and feeling worried.

Have been ready for over a month to exchange, but still no news. What is reasonable?

Honestly mine took 7 months and it felt awful and ages … but that’s not to say it will be the same at all, can you find details of the chain will there be any blocking points?

Is your chain closed and how many parties does it involve? A friend of min had a chain that was 5 long and took around 9 months in toal as the people at the top were moving into a probate. I'm currently in a chain of 3 and hoping to move before September (although our solicitors have said its likely land registry checks will be the sticking point) and we accepted teh offer on ours in March, with the chain only being closed when our sellers had thier offer accepeted on a chain free house at the end of April!

In 2023, ours took 5.5 months (it was ftb-us-vendors- empty property (not probate, vut sold by owners living on the other side of the world)). We sold in mid-May and completed late October.

4 months in a chain of 5 back in 2020. Couldn’t get removals for love nor money as the stamp duty holiday meant the property market was very busy. Now doing it all again… sigh..

4 houses, from completion of the chain, moved on 10 weeks later.

Good solicitors through out the chain I feel made it nice and speedy.

Ours took exactly three months from completing the chain. 3 houses, 4 parties in the chain.

I don’t think our was a long chain (ftb, our buyers, us, landlord selling former rental). We completed the chain in late July and moved just before Christmas. We had to wait for the landlord to give notice to the tenant and this to expire and then there was some faff around with paperwork on our garage.
