Removals Company Cost

Anyone used a professional removers for their house move recently? Can you give me an idea please what you paid, including packing boxes?

We have a 3 bed semi to clear and are moving to a 2 bedroom bungalow 70 miles away.

We have never used a removals company before so have literally no idea how much its likely to cost.

Not sure whether we use one, or do it ourselves, as we have done in the past. We are on a fairly tight budget so we are not even sure if using a removals company will be an option

Thanks

I had 4 quotes all including Removers doing packing the day before - (4 bed house inc garage - moving 30 miles). One was £1800, 2 came in around 3K and one came in at £3300. This is in the northern home counties - using local companies.

Thank you. We can afford around 2K but no more so I am hopeful we might get something around that price. We will do our own packing, just need the boxes.

You could save yourself £800/£900 (inc VAT) if you do the packing yourself.

I only moved across the city, packed myself (bought the boxes myself) and it was £600. But they took the beds apart and back together. I only ever use a local firm.

Could you ask for recommendations on Facebook or get quotes?

4 bed, but only going 5 miles.
Self pack, but packing materials provided, beds dismantled, removals - £950.
Adding in packing added £450.

And that wasn't the cheapest quote - there was a chance DH wouldn't be around the day we moved, and I felt uncomfortable with the guy who quoted cheaper, and refused to use his firm.

Cheap NE town.

Thank you, that's really useful. We are in Mid Wales moving to North Wales so will try and use a local firm which we hope will be a reasonable price. But its good to get a ball park figure for how much this kind of thing is.

We paid £2300, moved 120miles, we self packed so that price was just for removal men emptying old house thursday morning and delivering to new home friday lunch time. They did dismantle beds, sofas, and bought packing for things like the TV, mirrors etc but we boxed what we could.
