looking for ideas …

One idea is to knock down two walls and make the kitchen bigger ( blue squiggly line) and the bathroom moved along (green line)

I can’t have bathroom upstairs so will have to remain downstairs.

or does anyone think it’s good to have the wall where the red line is and create a utility, and then kitchen round to the side ?

was also thinking of having French doors where the now kitchen window is and then blocking up the door in kitchen but keeping window above so units can run along .

Happy for suggestions :)

Where is your garden in relation to the kitchen? Does the sink window look out onto it? So that external kitchen door goes onto a side passageway?
If so I think I would block up that external door and put a bathroom in that space, blocking up the door to the lounge. You might be able to pinch a bit more space from that under stairs cupboard too. Pop up a wall between the new bathroom and existing kitchen.
Then I'd knock all of the rooms together at the back of the house, pop french doors in the middle or at one end, which becomes your entry point to the back garden. Do you park in your garage? Could add a utility space in the garage and knock a door through. Or at the end of the new big kitchen.
So you'd come in through your front door into the new kitchen on your left, new bathroom in front of you and lounge on the right. Removes a load of doors and everything is easy to get to off the hallway.

What are your priorities? More kitchen? More living space?

how many people live in the house?

@OttersAreMySpiritAnimal wow ! Love your thinking, I would never have thought of this !! Thank you. Yes the kitchen windows overlooks the garden just as you say.

@parietal hi, I have the living space on the right as you enter so I’m thinking to make the kitchen space bigger and also appealing to others in the long run (when I sell) could be 10years plus … just the three of us for now and foreseeable but I like having a spacious feel in each room

Hi, a few more questions.

do you want to keep the garage as a garage or could that become a utility room?

do you plan any upstairs changes?

do you want to extend into the garden?

do you need to keep a downstairs bedroom or do you have enough bedrooms upstairs?
