Curtain length question

We are going to be renting our house out for a while, and need to put new curtains in the lounge. I don't want to spend a lot, so was planning to go ready-made, but we seem to have a length issue! The drop of the main window is 137cm, which is the same as the shortest curtains. If we go for longer curtains, they will hang over the radiators which are positioned under the window frames. Is this a definite no-no, or will it be okay?

I feel a bit clueless on this, as I've always had them made to measure, but can't warrant it on this ocassion.

TIA

Well I always have floor length curtains and blinds that stop at windowsill. That way I get privacy and the look I want. I draw the curtain when heating is off and going to bed.

I’d go for longer in the lounge because it looks better. My dd has mid length curtains 180ish cm I think they are in her bedroom so she still has her radiator uncovered.

I do exactly what @greengreyblue does! I tend to buy ready made curtains, and get them slightly longer than needed. I then get them adjusted at the local dry cleaners so they hit the ground exactly- it makes cheap curtains look much more bespoke. It depends on your aesthetic, but if you like a more contemporary look I think the proper linen curtains from Zara Home or H&M Home are fantastic value for money, and look great if adjusted to fit your curtain drop exactly.

If curtains trail over the radiators, quite a bit of heat will go out of the window. The curtains will get dirty, too.

Dirty on what? Presume the op cleans her floors.
