Has anyone clad the side of a garage?

We look at the side of our garage and it’s ugly and pebble-dashed.

Not quite sure what to do with it? Could we grow plants on it without causing damage or do we need to clad it in some way?

Put up trellis and grow a plant that grows on trellis but doesn't sink suckers into walls.

You can put wooden battens on it and then put wood on top of that. I wouldn't want any climber directly on the pebble dash as the weight of the plants could end up pulling some of it off. If that seems too big a job for you a fencing company could do it for you.

Wooden battens do seem sensible and the job is well within DH’s capabilities. Whether I can persuade him to do it might be a different matter …
