Hello,

Looking for some recommendations for places to live in Kent. We are looking at relocating from the Midlands.

We would like to be within a 45 min drive of the Eurotunnel due to the need to frequently travel into mainland Europe.

We also have young children so good school catchment for primary and secondary is a must.

Would be looking for a detached house - budget £700 - £800k.

Any recommendations welcome! Already looking at Hythe/Saltwood.

Villages around Canterbury and and between Ashford and Canterbury are lovely. All very handy to the Eurostar / chunnel. Maybe look OFSTED outstanding primary schools and what secondary catchments you might be in. Kent operates the grammar school 11+ system though so that determines what secondary you get into more than proximity.

The boys’ grammar in Canterbury is generally better than Ashford, but for girls, Ashford’s grammar is stronger than Canterbury’s. You can find good-sized houses in both areas within your budget.

Also worth checking out Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge—house prices there pretty much reflect how good the schools are.

Deal, Sandwich, Folkestone, Broadstairs, Whitstable.

I moved from London to Deal and love it here.
