Council slab patio gaps

Hi I've got a patio made out of council slabs. The gaps between them are probably 1-2 cm in places and weeds keep growing through, which is driving me crazy and looks unkempt. Any ideas what I'm meant to put in the gaps, I've considered giving it a good pressure wash and putting sand in the cracks but I think the weeds would probably pop through anyway

You can put jointing compound or mortar between the gaps eg Sika FastFix Jointing Compound Stone 15kg - Screwfix

you could grow something you like in the cracks instead? is it sunny or shaded?

Get a patio weeder and use that to scrape them out.

I have one, the problem is they grow back quickly because there's nothing to stop them growing back through and I CBA to keep on top of them. Also if I put sand in the cracks the sand would get everywhere too

This looks good, is it messy to do?

I've got this going on with my garden! Once I've jet washed them I'm buying some sort of cement thing to go in the cracks. You can also buy some sort of sealant.

Once it is clear, as you see one poking up, get rid of it straight away. The bigger they get, the harder they are to remove, so little and often is the best way really.

The jointing compound is brilliant. But not sure how easy to do on a badly laid patio as a retrofit. I have places in my garden with it and others with selective weeds. I'll try uploading pics
