DIY panelling - how?!

I wanted to do some panelling using the B&Q kits on one wall of one room. The problem is that the wall is quite an awkward length and also long so it needs quite a few panels. No matter what way I work it out, I always end up with needing really difficult measurements of 43.736cm between each strip..that seems far too tricky for my liking!
How on earth do people get round this when doing DIY panelling?! Do I just use a dado rail instead? The reason I want panelling is because the room is quite a bold colour and that more neutral half-panelled section would just tone it down a bit!

Depends on what style you want it’s cheaper to not buy the kits.

We bought a sheet of mdf and had B&Q cut it into the length we wanted and then used one off cut as a guide to get the gaps the same length. Just round it to 43/44.

I’ll add an image of one out my rooms.
