Cream carpet…positive stories

I have ordered a cream carpet for my bedroom. Please reassure me this is not a mistake!

My main concern is that I’m a bit of a fashionista and like trying on outfits in front of my mirror, including shoes of course!. Will shoe marks show up easily…? Can it be cleaned away easily if so?

Of course they will mark the carpet. Get a rug in front of mirror

Allseeingallknowing · 12/04/2025 22:13

OP- you have years of constant cleaning in front of you!

BrassyLocks · 12/04/2025 22:17

I have cream carpets but no shoes allowed. They're looking tired now, but have looked great for 25 years.

Geneticsbunny · 12/04/2025 23:23

No shoes! Put a full length mirror downstairs for trying shoes on.

Would RugDoctor get rid of any marks?

We got a cream bedroom carpet in our first house, we moved 3 years later and when we cleaned the room you could see where every bit of furniture had been... it was IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean.

We have beige in the hall now too and you can see exactly where people walk, its not just 'cleaning' it has worn different in those areas but we have yet to find a carpet cleaner that will get out a dark mark.

I bought cream for the upstairs in our old house and to be honest regretted it. We didn’t have shoes upstairs but they still showed the dirt (and general fluff from clothes/ wherever there was a rug down/ spilt coffee etc etc). I bought a £200 carpet cleaner from Argos which helped matters but now we’ve moved and I wouldn’t get them again. In the new houses we’re actually sticking with wooden floors and plenty of soft rugs upstairs. Much less of a commitment!

Wevee just taken out the last of the cream carpets we put in when we moved into our house. They were an absolute disaster. Never again.

BumbleBeegu · 13/04/2025 15:00

Don’t do it! You will absolutely regret it!

nomorezoflora · 13/04/2025 15:02

Yeah, you'll have to move to no shoes on the carpet if you do it.

We get through a lot of spray floor cleaner on spots even so, mostly due to the cats though. And bought a hand vacuum as well because it shows much more fluff and whatnot.

I've got cream carpet in my bedroom. It's a will one with a slight fleck if you look closely, but the overall colour is somewhere between cream and oatmeal.

I sometimes wear shoes in there and wouldn't say it shows. Obviously if you spill something it will show up, but you just have to clean it up. I've lost count of the number of cups of tea that have dripped or been knocked over!

Rug doctor spot cleaner is fab. We also have one of the vax carpet cleaners and it works as welif as, if not better than, the rug doctor machines we've hired in the past.

We need to replace our carpet soon and will probably have a similar colour again.

We have cream carpets on the stairs and upstairs. We don’t wear shoes upstairs. It’s three years old and pretty much looks like new. It does show any bits though. I knew it would but just liked it.
