Patio cost

We want to get 33m2 of patio laid on what is currently lawn. I can’t even begin to know if we can afford it and don’t want to get quotes if they will be 1000s more than I have. I know the stone is about £800.

what kind of cost per m2 could I expect for this type of job. Largely flat grass with maybe slight 5% slope to the left back corner. Am I looking at £5000 or £10,000 type amounts? Surrey if that makes a difference!

As this is a new patio and there is a slight slope, I think you need a professional installer. What kind of access do you have to your garden? Can they get a small digger in? The work will involve them in excavating removing and disposing of soil, laying a sub-base to help with drainage and then installing the patio stone. I think it would cost around £7k (based upon a family member who has just completed this).

I think we paid about £15k, smallish patio but inc a slightly raised bit up a couple of steps, and that included removal and disposal of the old slabs. I’d estimate maybe 7m by 4m. Think it’s limestone.

We've recently had a quote for a small area to be paved as a seating area, relay some paths and build a simple wooden fence - the horizontal baton type. Not a huge area. £16,000. We've declined.

I live in Surrey. I had two quotes for replacing patio. Stone itself would be under 1k. Patio is 7x3 and the quotes were 8k plus VAT.

Thanks all.
