Trying to sort renovation insurance, we have a JCT minor works contract so need joint names insurance and are speaking to a couple of brokers. We've had conflicting advice about whether it should cover the value of the building works paid to the builder (ie the quote plus VAT) or also include the value of the fixtures and fittings that we buy too?
We want to ensure we're adequately covered, but also want to avoid paying through the nose for cover we don't need (our builders have public liability and employers liability) and a couple of brokers have said it's fine to leave out fixtures and fittings, others have said we should include. Can anyone advise?
Also not sure what to do about contents because joint names only seems to cover basic contents, so do we need to have separate cover for that while the works are ongoing?
