Soundproof laundry room?

Hi
I have a small laundry room but the sound of machines comes out to the living room next to it. What can I use to make this room soundproof by myself and cost effective way. Thanks.

You can buy accoustic matting for appliances:

I'd also look to buy a washing machine with a quiet mark when you next replace it:

Obviously, you could sound proof the room as well, but that's likely to be fairly disruptive and expensive, so that didn't sound like it would fit your remit.

Acoustilay Mat For use under noisy appliances

Acoustic Mat is commonly used under a Washing Machine or tumble dryer to reduce sound and knocking that can be the cause of a noisy kitchen.

I was about to say acoustic mats are a good start. You can sound proof the room with soundproofing panels but that will be more expensive and you'll have to plaster the walls.
